Biliana Voutchkova - violin, voice

Biliana Voutchkova studied classical violin. During her college years she became involved in the contemporary and improvised music scene of New York. She is a dedicated improviser/creator/interpreter whose work spans the widest possible range of music, sound, performance and movement. She lives in Berlin, involved in on-going interactions with dancers, improvisers, composers and visual artists: her colleagues from GRAPESHADE, Frances-Marie Uitti, Matthias Bauer, Audrey Chen, Louise Wagner, Chiyoko Szlavnics, Michael Thieke.
She has appeared in festivals and concert series worldwide. She is a collaborator of Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, Ensemble Modern, the Splitter Orchestra, Insomnio and Mozaik Ensembles among others. She has developed a strong interest in the relationship between sound and movement and she co-founded the group GRAPESHADE and the OSM - Open Sound & Movement Collective furthering her research in this field.

Berlin-based clarinetist/composer/performer Michael Thieke has worked across a broad range of musical environments, exploring the minutiae of sound, timbre and noise, with a particular interest in microtonality and related sound phenomena and with a preference for long-term collaborations and collective works.
He is currently involved in a number of projects that focus on diverse and contrasting facets of his musical interest, such as experimental song forms, collective composing projects, improvising collectives and music on the fringes of jazz. As a member of groups such as The International Nothing, The Pitch, Splitter Orchestra, The Magic I.D., Hotelgäste, Toulemonde/Thieke, Porta Chiusa and Der Lange Schatten, he has performed in Europe, Japan, USA, Canada and Russia. His musical works have been documented in over 30 releases on labels such as Staubgold, Erstpop, Ftarri, Charhizma and others.
